Greetings Cards

1. Cut a piece of copper metal approx. 1cm smaller all round than the edge of the natural paper greetings card using the scalloped edge scissors. Take great care when you are cutting out metal, as the edges will be sharp.

2. Use the small end of the embossing tool to write ‘pineapple’ repeatedly around the edge of the metal. Apply a little Spanish Copper Rub’n Buff with your finger to the writing, so that the colour sinks down into the recessed writing. Use a soft cloth to wipe away any excess from the foil. Glue down the copper piece to the centre of the card with Aleene’s Tacky Glue.

3. Tear a rectangle of cream natural paper to sit within the writing on the copper. To tear the paper with ease, firstly fold where you require the tear, then dampen with water. This will result in an accurate tear. Glue down.

4. Trim a small rectangle of corrugated card (found in some of the card kits) and secure to the centre of the card. Cut 2 2cm sections of twig to stand either side.

5. Embossing the Pineapple - Cut a piece of copper slightly bigger than the brass stencil. Secure the stencil to the foil with masking tape and place onto a soft, foam surface (this will allow the foil to be embossed to a greater depth). Use the embossing tool to "push out" each section of the foil through the stencil. For a smoother effect, use the end of a paintbrush. Once you have finished, remove the stencil and turn the foil over to see the result. For more definition, apply Spanish Copper Rub ‘n Buff into the recesses of the embossed foil, removing excess with a soft cloth. Cut out the pineapple with a small pair of scissors and glue onto the corrugated card. Complete your card by decorating the envelope with another embossed pineapple secured onto corrugated card and paper.

Foil Punched Frame

1. Cut the mount card 17cm x 20cm and cut out a central aperture (save for later), 4cm in from each edge. Cut a piece of foil 2cm larger all round than the card mount (21cm x 24cm).

2. Position design sheet (overleaf), onto transfer paper, then secure centrally over the foil you have just cut. Use a pencil to draw over the lines of the design (including the edging lines), then remove the design sheet and transfer paper.

3. Place the foil over a thick scrap piece of card (this will protect your table top), and use the punching tools and rubber mallet to punch out the design. Use the large ended tool for large holes and smallest tool for small holes.

4. Punch a large hole into the centre of where the aperture will be, then insert small scissors into the hole and cut out the aperture. The dotted lines on the designs indicate the spare foil which should be left on on the edges of the aperture. Make a small diagonal cut into each corner (this will enable you to fold the excess under the card frame).

5. Line up the foil with the card frame you cut out in step 1. Use the aperture as a guide. Trim the corners of the foil on the angle and fold over the excess firmly onto the back of the frame. Secure with masking tape if required. Fold in the excess foil remaining on the aperture edges.

6. Cut a piece of card 17cm x 20cm and glue down to the back of the card using a glue gun. Leave the top edge open to enable you to insert photos. Use the left over card cut from the aperture of the frame to make a stand for the frame.
