Take the Chunky Stamp design possibilities one
step further simply by using an iron, some velvet and Chunky Stamps create
co-ordinating curtains, curtain ties, cushions, wall hangings, collages
and gifts for a fraction of the normal price.
Step by Step
1. Lightly spray the velvet with water using a spray mist bottle and
place right side down on top of the Chunky Stamp design.
2. Lay a pressing cloth over the top of the fabric. Heat your iron up
to a low-medium temperature. Do not use an iron which is too hot or else
the velvet will melt. TIP Have an experiment on a scrap piece of velvet to
test the temperature of the iron.
3. Firmly run the iron over the chunky stamp and velvet for about 20
seconds. The heat will cause the velvet pile to shrink where the Chunky
Stamp design has contact, leaving a clear image in the fabric. Gently peel
up one corner of the velvet after 20 seconds to check whether the image is
clear. If not, keep on ironing, checking every few seconds.
TIP If the image is not clearly defined, try the iron slightly hotter
than before. Remember to test first to prevent the velvet from being
damaged by the heat.
